Artist Statement:

  • My theme in photography is nature and macro. What I like about macro and nature is that you can seize the beautiful details in your subjects. My goal and purpose in photography is to show and express the stunning details people overlook and don’t normally see from mother nature.

  • When I take my pictures I like to find unusual shaped and detailed flowers or leaves. After I find the perfect subject I go to the studio at school and start taking photos with my Nikon D3000 camera, tripod, and macro extension lens. During this time I shoot at different points of views to see which angle I like the best. I also use a flashlight or studio light to further more capture the features in my subjects.

  • Though I do come up with good photographs in the end I also have some struggles. With the macro lens I sometimes find it really hard to get enough light into the lens, so my pictures either come out really dark or too light. I also find it somewhat difficult to focus the lens at the spot I want the audience to notice, making the photos blurry.

  • Through photography, I can apprehend the beauty of nature by getting close-up and expressing the natural features of my topic, which are overlooked and ignored by people everyday.
